Pam Goldsmith-Jones meets with Pender Harbour Community Leaders

​On November 26, 2015, the Pender Harbour Advisory Council hosted a meeting with Pam Goldsmith-Jones, newly elected MP for the West Vancouver—Sunshine Coast—Sea to Sky Country riding and Pender Harbour Community Leaders. Chaired by Pender Harbour Advisory Council President, Steve Luchkow, the meeting canvassed such issues as the proposed Dock Management Plan, oceans and fisheries issues resulting from the closure of the Pender Harbour DFO office, road access to the Sunshine Coast, and the Ruby Lake Lagoon Society’s proposed Pender Harbour Ocean Discovery Centre. Holding the meeting with Goldsmith-Jones was part of a general strategy for the Pender Harbour Advisory Council of developing a closer liaison with various levels of government and of providing people of the Harbour with a venue for voicing their concerns about various issues to those governments.
Members of the community present, included the following: Steve Luchkow, Pender Harbour Advisory Council; Len Lee, Pender Harbour & District Chamber of Commerce; Elaine Park, Pender Harbour Living Heritage Society; Barrie Wilbee , Pender Harbour Advisory Council; Dr. Michael Jackson, Ruby Lake Lagoon Nature Reserve Society; Rosemary Bonderud, Pender Harbour Health Centre; Glen Bonderud, Rotary Club of Pender Harbour; Robin Miller ,Harbour Authority of Pender Harbour; Sharron Halford, Pender Harbour Seniors Initiative ; Frank Mauro, SCRD – Area A Representative; Marg Penny, Pender Harbour Music Society; Bob Fielding, Dock Management Working Group; Jim Cameron, Fisherman; Sean McAllister, Dock Management Working Group; Jack Barr, Powell River Chamber of Commerce.
The Pender Harbour Advisory Council is a volunteer organization which exists to support the vitality of the communities of the Pender Harbour area as excellent places to live, work and play for residents and visitors. The Council will provide the Pender Harbour area with a structure that allows residents to identify issues of broad community concern and have them effectively addressed.
